India with its vast cultural diversity has equally vast plethora of art forms. Some of these are known globally, while some of them have even become extinct due to lack of followers. This is why the students at VGSOM decided to come up with an initiative to preserve local art by giving it a wider platform for acceptance and sustenance.
As a part of Saamanjasya, this year too the team will organize Kalakaar Vikas which will provide a platform to showcase the art, craft and culture of Bengal to rest of India. It is an exhibit where the guests and participants of Saamanjasya can view some traditional art from nooks and corners of Bengal. There would be workshop put up by the artists to share their skills.
For a regular and sustainable income, we are conducting a workshop where in the problems faced by these artists will be highlighted and the solution will be sought for them. Consultancy will also be provided to them by our LIC and theMinistry of textile. Participation in the exhibit may be ensuring in much needed commercial exposure to these forms of art.
